Samera’s Miracle: A Prepare Story

Breakthrough, miracles, freedom…these aren’t just empty words you’ll hear at Milestone. They describe what God does every year at Prepare. Today, Samera and Joel share their story of a powerful miracle and how God moved in their lives at Prepare.

In June of 2015, after three years of marriage, my husband, Joel, and I decided we were ready for a family. Shortly after, we found out we were pregnant and had such joy!

Unfortunately, I miscarried the last weekend of August. Excruciating pain consumed me emotionally, spiritually, physically, and mentally. I couldn’t make sense of the situation. The suffering between my spouse and I was real, and I found within my soul issues I never knew existed—jealousy for others who were expecting, bitterness, and hopelessness for the calling of motherhood on my life.

Our family was undergoing attack after attack. And I was entering a winter season of my life. I went through a season of depression. I had been told by the doctors that all this trauma had also affected my ability to have children.

I was diagnosed as infertile.

I didn’t want to accept the status of where I was in life. I felt hopeless. Yet I knew God could resurrect the situations that seemed impossible. I began accepting the grieving process and He began bringing to the surface the roots I needed to deal with.

I pushed through in faith believing that breakthrough would come. I continued in prayer and steadfastness, waiting for God to move mightily. And in our sufferings, God was with us.

As Joel and I prepared for Prepare 2017, we were expectant in faith. Joel heard the Lord say, “2017 is the year!”

In faith, we participated in Prepare and we were obedient to what the Lord had asked us to do.

Within my heart I had longed for breakthrough. Joel and I, along with our spiritual family here at Milestone, prayed at Prepare 2017 that we’d be able to have a child. At the end of January 2017, I recall going into what we once believed would have been a future baby’s room, getting on my knees, and surrendering to God in prayer. The odds of pregnancy were so slim. But I was done with my plan; I wanted God’s plan over my family.

In March, breakthrough happened.

I found out I was 7 weeks pregnant, my father gave his life to Christ (we’d been praying for his salvation for years), and we became debt free all in the same week! I couldn’t contain the blessings from God; I wanted to explode from joy. He was faithful and He continues to be faithful.

Jaidyn Elijah was born at 1:35am on November 3rd. Right now, my husband is swaddling our 2 month old miracle…our son. I can’t believe I get to hold this miracle child in my hands. We serve a Mighty God who is exceedingly able to do all things, far more than we could ever ask or imagine.

Prepare is an incredible time. Come with expectancy believing that God can resurrect the situations in your life you deem are impossible to change. You’re right, those situations you face are impossible for you, but they’re not too hard for God. Be blessed, Milestone Church, and be encouraged!
