Teresa found herself isolated and depressed, but it was an invitation from her teenage daughter to attend our women’s event, JOY, that changed her life forever. In her own words she shares her story with us today:
The early part of this year I decided to leave my job and pursue my dream of starting my own catering business. But I quickly learned it is much harder than I thought and so I went back to searching for a job. Countless resumes were sent, and I was getting nothing in return. My funds were quickly diminishing and I started to panic.
My daughter had been coming to Milestone for some time and she came to me in May and asked if she could go to High School camp in Louisiana. I knew I did not have the money, so I reached out to Milestone to see if there was a scholarship program and there was! I was so thankful for this because when Lexi came back from camp, she was a totally different young lady.
Something AMAZING happened to her on that trip.
She continued to ask if I wanted to join her at church and because I had sunk into a depression I kept telling her no. I just wanted to isolate myself from the world. My daughter told me about the women’s event, JOY, and I told her no…and I told her I didn’t belong. I was so worried about my job and I had no clue how I was going to pay our rent and my relationship was in ruins. I just didn’t want to be around anyone. I knew we were on the brink of being homeless and I needed help getting back on my feet.
During a move, I had an injury that really put me out of commission. My daughter goes to Elevate, and she shared with her youth leader what had been going on in our lives and the injury I had. Not even knowing me, the Milestone family was willing to help.
My daughter’s youth leader (Shannon) has a small group on Sundays and when Lexi came home that evening she had a tray of amazing chicken enchiladas and a message from Shannon. She said that she and her husband, along with others, were willing to come over and help do the lifting and unpacking with me. I was absolutely blown away.
Then one night my life changed…
My daughter informed me that she registered us for JOY and that I had to go with her! Once we arrived I was blown away by how many women were there. Once we got settled into our seats and Brandy came out with an amazing message and prayed then Ps Jeff came out to continue to pray. He then asked all the single Moms to stand up and I did. I quickly sat back down as I am very shy. Ps Jeff started to pray again and the women sitting next to me gently put her hand on my back as he prayed.
Uncontrollable tears…but these were tears of joy because as he was praying I decided to rededicate my life.
As we all stood up I almost ran to the front stage and was greeted by this amazing woman (Lorraine) who prayed over me. I prayed that I would give all my worries to Him and, let me tell you, what a feeling of relief I had that night. A feeling I have never had before. I felt home again.
Milestone is my family now. So many blessings have come my way since that night.
I left feeling so different.
That following week I went to see a client and I was so excited to share my experience from JOY. I learned that she was new to Trophy Club and she asked if she could come to church with me sometime. I was so thrilled! God has been working in my life and I’m so excited about all He has for me!
