Jay’s Family Vision

Water baptisms are one of our favorite celebrations here at Milestone. Nearly 70 people from all different generations and different backgrounds took this step of faith last weekend. We saw a 67-year-old woman baptized right alongside two six-year-olds, a family of four brothers and sisters who come from a Muslim heritage, and families just like Jay Odem’s who all said “yes” to Jesus.

If you were with us this weekend, you saw Jay’s video. There are elements of the story that are exceptional and unique to him, but most of us can relate to his day-to-day life. This is how he is approaching his future after being baptized with his son this weekend:

“Our family dynamic has totally shifted. Before, of course, we all loved each other but looking back, we were just going through the motions every day. Now we have a vision. From little things we do as a family to long term family plans, it has all changed for the better.

Now that Thomas, our 6-year-old son, has accepted Jesus into his heart, I see little glimpses of the man he will become. The fire is growing inside of him and it’s amazing to watch it burn for the Lord. It’s the little things like saying his prayers to catching him worship in the backseat with songs he is learning in Milestone Kids.

It’s just a blessing to watch our son transform because of Jesus in his life.

Now we get to do it all over again with Aiden, who is due in October of this year. We see how awesome following Jesus is for Thomas and can not wait to implement this in Aiden’s life as well.

Following Jesus has brought us so much closer than I can ever try to even explain. We are just so blessed for all that He is doing and all the new and exciting things still to come.”
