We never outgrow the need we have for peace, joy, and reminders of God’s faithfulness. We will never outgrow the need we have for faith. But where do we find all of that? The Bible.
Faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. –Romans 10:17
Cathy and Whitt are two members of our family that have spent their lives consistently seeking God through the Bible. Today, Cathy shares how her time in the Word has influenced her life and the lives of those in her family. Take a moment to see how Whitt and Cathy have seen the faithfulness of God in their lives.
“When I think about how faithful God is, I always think back to my late thirties.
Whitt and I had been married for a year and a half, and, while spending time in the Bible, I started feeling like God was calling me into a season where I didn’t need to be working. I had two step-kids, and my five-year-old daughter, Tava, from my previous marriage. Though I really enjoyed my job at the time, I realized that I needed to be home with the kids.
I was really wrestling with God about not working. I said to God, ‘Okay, Lord, I admit, my job is something I hold dear to me, I cannot put it down on my own. You’re going to have to do it for me.’ Within two weeks, Whitt told me that we had to move for his job.
It was like the Lord said, ‘Go, I’ve prepared the way.’
Now, thirty years later, we’ve got a lot going on in life, some pretty big challenges…but I trust. I know that God has prepared the way, just like He did when I was in my late thirties. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve needed God and just have gone to His Word and to Him in prayer.
God’s Word continually changes my perspective on life’s challenges.
If I could offer any advice to any generation, I would say, God’s always there. He’s got a plan for your life, and God will bring you through whatever circumstance you find yourself in.
Remember these Scriptures:
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. –Matthew 6:33
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. –Romans 8:28
The Lord will fight for you, and all you have to do is keep still. –Exodus 14:14
Trust Him.”
