Life Stories

Encounters

Milestone is an everyone church that values and believes in the next generation. Our summer camps have always been key environments where our Elevate students and Milestone Kids can encounter Jesus in a real, personal way. A few weeks ago our Elevate team took 245 students and 48 leaders to High School Rev Camp in Louisiana. Here are just a few of the stories from this incredible week:

Lauren came into the week with feelings of guilt and shame from a few wrong decisions she’d made this year. On Wednesday night she felt God speak to her as if she was the only person in the room and affirm His love for her. She recommitted her life to the Lord and is planning to get baptized this month!

Haydn fully gave his life to Christ at camp and though he came into the week feeling empty, alone and without purpose, he now feels he has a calling to share his experience with those around him.
___

Tristan came to camp carrying unforgiveness and bitterness, but on Tuesday found the courage to forgive. He’s excited to explore a call to ministry and all God has for him.
___

Austin had never had a real experience with Jesus coming into the week and had been trying to fill the void in his life with so many things that weren’t satisfying. During camp, he committed to get rid of anything that would keep him from following Jesus and to share His love with those around him.

JQ says “This week God really spoke to me. He made me lower a lot of walls I had. He also opened my eyes and touched my heart, this allowed me to forgive people I never thought I would. Now I have a peace I’ve never felt.”
___

Beck was living a toxic lifestyle at home, but he left camp with a commitment to live for Jesus. He’s excited to make some changes in his lifestyle and circle of friends.

Gavin came to camp confused about his identity and felt a great deal of guilt. During the week he was given a revelation about forgiveness and decided to give all his sins to God. He left feeling new, at home, and that a weight had lifted of his shoulders. He’s excited to dive into the Word, learn more about Jesus, and join a small group.

Mia came into camp dealing with the effects of trauma in her life. She felt that she would never be able to forgive or trust again. During the week, she was able to forgive and fully walk in freedom from the pain and shame she felt. She committed to trusting that God had something better and more life-giving on the other side for her.
___

Lindsay had recently decided to start coming to church again. She had believed in God, but felt distant from Him because of mistakes. During camp she felt Jesus speak to her and she fully committed to following Him.
___

Taylor gave her life to Christ Thursday night of camp! She had been around church but never had a moment where she committed her life to following Christ. She was also able to walk through healing and forgiveness and left camp changed and ready for what God has next for her.
___

Evan says “I signed up for Rev Camp and was excited because it was a chance to give my faith a sturdy foundation. Jesus spoke so clearly to me at camp! God has been putting on my heart that mission work is my calling. That confirmed it after praying about it. I know the best is yet to come!”

Saraih began the week angry and confused. She’d never felt that she had heard from or connected with God and had so many questions about the Bible. The last night of camp she prayed to receive Jesus and was beaming as she was finally able to drop the weight she’d been carrying for so many years.

    Amen.

I was NOT this bold when I was in high school. Prayers for much strength as they walk out their steps with Him.
