How Evan Experienced God

My name is Evan Gusti, and this is the story of how my life was turned around…

In September of 2016 I moved from Clearwater, FL to Grapevine, TX. This move was really hard on me. It was right in the middle of my high school experience. My parents are strong Christians and I grew up knowing right from wrong, but I had never really owned my faith personally or surrendered my life to Jesus.

Here I was…a 16 year old moving halfway across the country and going through a lot. I began to do whatever I wanted, turning from what I knew was right. I was making some really bad decisions. One day after football practice a leader from Elevate texted me and invited me to come to a Bible study. I went for the food more than anything, lol. That very week I had made plans to do something that could have wrecked my life, but God had other plans.

When I went to the Bible study God revealed Himself in such a way that I had no doubt He was real. I had a personal encounter with the one true God and fully surrendered my life to Him. I ended up not making the horrible decision I was thinking about, and ever since that moment my life has never been the same.

I’ve grown closer to my leaders and friends from Elevate which has kept me strong as I’ve learned what it means to follow Jesus. I went to Rev Camp last summer, which really opened my eyes about who God is and what His plan is for my life.

Elevate has impacted my life in so many ways! The coolest thing is that my personal encounters with God haven’t stopped. I’ve been experiencing God every day, week, and month since I surrendered my life to Him.
