Holly’s Step of Faith

We never outgrow taking steps.

In 2016, Holly was a single mom raising a young son. She took a step and signed up to get some help structuring her finances here at Milestone. Though she hoped to gain some important financial principles, as she took this journey with other single moms in her group she ended up getting much more than she expected. Three years later, Holly is now married and she and her husband Chase and son Jenson are expecting a new addition to their family soon! This past Sunday, she shared that God had recently called her to take another step of faith. We were so encouraged by her story, we wanted to share it with you today:

“This is WAY out of my comfort zone.

Back in 2016, I hesitantly signed up for the Financial Peace University course at Milestone Church. I was a single mom at the time, though I was still relatively fortunate compared to many other single parents. Even then, I knew I needed some structure in my finances to be able to provide what I wanted for Jenson. So I signed up and was placed in a group with other single mothers.

Little did I know, this class would completely transform my outlook on money, and more surprisingly, help me discover how single motherhood had greatly impacted me spiritually and emotionally, which in turn, also impacted my finances. The course became more of a blessing to me than I ever imagined. I prayed that one day (my hope was maybe 10 years down the road) God would put me in a position (financially, spiritually, etc.) to minister to other single moms and allow me to show them His heart and desire for His daughters.

This Tuesday, I will begin leading a small group of single moms/ladies in this very course I took 3 years ago. Because God put this calling in my heart a few years ago, the devil has found every way to make me doubt my usefulness and ability to be a light to the women I will soon meet.

I am reminded of how Moses felt when God called him into a position he felt less than equipped for (on a much larger scale, of course), and have faith that I do not need to be the most skilled leader or speaker to make a lasting impact. Thankfully, God’s power is made perfect in our weaknesses.

Please say a prayer for the ladies in this group; that they may leave each week assured that their Father loves and cares for them deeply and that He longs to fulfill every desire in their heart and need of their family. I am eternally grateful for the chance to get to meet these ladies and form lasting friendships with each one!”

After their first group meeting this Tuesday, Holly shared: The ladies in my group are AWESOME! God sure is going to stretch me this semester and I couldn’t be more excited for it.

Thank you for sharing, Holly! What a great reminder that we grow as we go, intentionally taking steps with God along the way. We are excited for you and praying for your group as you take this journey together.
